Cooling scrap production in carbon steel, aluminium and stainless steel - Borlänge, Sweden

At SSAB’s Strip Products Division in Borlänge – world leader in high strength steel, Norex has installed and operates two shredders to provide for SSAB’s need of refined cooling scrap. The first was erected in 1992 and the second in 2006 in order to satisfy the growing demand. Total annual production capacity is 50 000 tons of cooling scrap in carbon steel, aluminium and stainless steel.

Norex also handle all internal scrap for SSAB in Borlänge.

Cooling scrap production – Raahe, Finland

The most recent shredder was installed at Ruukki’s steel mill in Raahe. The installation, with an annual capacity of 25 000 tons of cooling scrap, was erected and ready for operation in 2008.

Cooling scrap production – Tornio, Finland

The largest producer of stainless steel in the world - Outokumpu Stainless has chosen Norex as provider for production of stainless cooling scrap. Hence, in Tornio Norex’ single largest shredder installation including two cutting lines was installed in 2003. The annual capacity is more than 120 000 tons of stainless cooling scrap.
